Our aim is that pupils at Willowbrook School:
- Understand and apply the essential principles and concepts of Computer Science, including logic, algorithms and data representation;
- Analyse problems in computational terms, and have repeated practical experience of writing computer programs in order to solve such problems;
- Evaluate and apply information technology analytically to solve problems;
- Communicate ideas well by using correct terminology.
By the time a Willowbrook pupil leaves our school they will be digitally literate. They will be able to use computational thinking and creativity to understand the changing world that we live in. They will now how digital systems work and know how to use this knowledge through programming. They will leave with a suitable level of understanding to be an active participant in a digital world once they leave our school. We use the Purple Mash computing scheme of work.
Internet Safety
At Willowbrook School we take internet safety extremely seriously. Every year group participates in lessons on e-safety and children understand how to stay safe when using technology. E-safety is also incorporated as part of our Spring 1 whole-school PSHE theme, 'Safety'. There are lots of brilliant free parent/carer guides that you can find here.
